Who Is Jesus & What Is His Gospel?

The Gospel ("Good News" in Greek) of Jesus Christ is organized around these questions:

1) Who made us and to whom are we accountable?

2) Why are we separated from God?

3) What is God's solution to our problem?

4) How can I be included in this solution?

The answers to these questions are found in God's Word, the Bible.

1) The God of the Bible made us:

Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. "

Genesis 1:26And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness”

God created everything, including man.  The creature (man) is accountable to the Creator (God).

2) Our problem is our sin against Him. (Romans 3:23 & 3:10; 6:23)

"For the wages of sin is death;” Romans 6:23a

"For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God" Romans 3:23

Sin separates man from God, bringing death (spiritual and physical).

“But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags;” Isaiah 64:6

"As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one." Romans 3:10

There is no righteousness within us by which we can be saved from our sins, and from death.

“for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.”  Leviticus 17:11

Atonement for sin demanded a blood sacrifice.

3) God's solution is salvation through Jesus Christ:

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”  Romans 5:8

"For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." 2 Corinthians 5:21

God graciously sent His Son to die in our place for the sins we committed.

“In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;” Ephesians 1:7

It is only Christ’s blood sacrifice on the cross that can atone for our sins.

4) We come to be included in that salvation by faith.

We can only be saved by trusting in the Gospel as revealed to the Apostle Paul:

For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”  1 Corinthians 15:3-4

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”  Ephesians 2:8-9

Our salvation is through faith alone, not of by doing “good works.”
