The word apologetics comes from the Greek word "apologia" [pronounced: apollo-gee-ah] which means "speaking in defense," and is found in I Peter:
I Peter 3:15
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer(apologia)to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.
Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines apologetics this way:
1: systematic argumentative discourse in defense [as of a doctrine]
2 : a branch of theology devoted to the defense of the divine origin and authority of Christianity
We Begin In the Beginning
Begin
Ministries focuses on "CREATION" apologetics:a systematic defense to questions
surrounding the first eleven chapters of Genesis.
We
focus on Genesis chapters 1-11 because they are the foundation for the rest of
the Bible & the Christian faith. Consider this:
If the events in Genesis
1-3 had never
happened, there would be
no need
for the rest of the
Bible.
Secondly,
we focus on these chapters because they are the most attacked in all the Bible,
and for good reason. Psalm 11:3 asks, "...If the
foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?" Satan is
attacking the foundation of our faith, family and country because he knows
everything fails without a strong foundation.
We
find that many believers have never really read and studied the events covered
in Genesis chapters 1-11 (creation, the fall, the flood, and the Tower of
Babel). They are certainly familiar with these events but the details are
largely shrouded in mystery for them.
Through
our presentations and Bible studies, believers gain a firm understanding of the
foundational events that root our faith and confidence in the Bible,
understanding it really can be trusted from the very first verse.
When
believers visit natural history museums, zoos, and other places where claims
about our origins are made, they recognize & understand the error of the
claims. When they listen to debates, read textbooks, or watch TV shows about
our origins, they can critically assess and properly weigh statements.
Ultimately,
our goal at Begin Ministries is to enable Christians to defend their faith and
to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ confidently & effectively.
